I used the directions for making seasonal ornanments that was done by the Greensboro Miniature Club. This gave me the dimentions for the styrofoam insert. A basic pattern for a stable appeared in the November 1989 issue of Nutshell News. I used this to get an idea of how to make a simple stable but expanded on the directions to make the stable as it appears in the image on the left. At the time of this picture, I had not placed the scene inside the plastic ball. The ornament will also have Silent Night Holy Night ribbon around the seam and a bow at the top. I took my first ornament to My friend's miniature shop (Happy House Miniatures) in Mocksville, NC. She is hoping to take orders for them.

When I received the ceramic molds from one of the gals in the miniature club I belong to, it included a set of molds for a miniature Nativity. I decided to make an ornament using the figurine molds. After pouring, cleaning, firing the greenware, and glazing, I used china paints to stain the figurines so they would look like ivory.
